Matt Molloy was born in Ballaghaderreen, County Roscommon and is considered one of the most brilliant Irish musicians and flutists in Irish music history. His numerous solo albums have been an inspiration to generations of aspiring flute players. He has been a member of some of the most influential and legendary musical groups including; The Bothy Band, Planxty and since 1979 he has toured the globe as a member of The Chieftains. Over the course of his career, Matt was named Traditional Musician of the Year by TG4 in Ireland. Molloy has worked with the Irish Chamber Orchestra, Paul Brady, Tommy Peoples, Donal Lunny, Sean Keane, Liam O'Flynn and many others. When not on tour, Matt owns one of the most famous music pubs in Ireland, Matt Molloy's in Westport in County Mayo.
